About Marilyn

How did you to get into running?

Marilyn during her gym session in the ON THE MOVE grey tights.

I was introduced to sport the pretty natural route through school.  I played a range of sports but I was asked to attend running club and that's where I met my very first track Coach George, who made sure I stayed in the sport during those key early years!

Describe what a typical training week looks like for you?

Typical training week for me about 4 key sessions a week with lots of accessory work tucked around it.

Every morning starts with cardio or yoga and I do Circuits usually 4 evenings a week, Mondays and Weds I will do some strength work and run or bike session.

Tuesday and Thursday I will have a interval sessions on grass or track depending on time of year. Fridays are my fave...REST Day!!  I'm a mature athlete and I work alongside my training. My main focus is recovery and making sure I have enough energy to give the right quality to my sessions so I listen to my body a lot more than I used and have a much more holistic approach to my training regime now.

What are your goals for the 2021 year?

My goals for 2021 is to stay healthy first and foremost and return to competitive competition.  I've been sidelined for a few seasons and have recently found motivation to get back out there and a restored love and faith in my running! So it my last hurrah really but I would like to retire on my terms as much as possible, which would be after one more GB vest, I also plan to complete my PT certification and start my own Fitness business.

How would you encourage people to get involved in your sport or keeping active in general?

I would encourage them find a sport or activity that they truly enjoy! Consistency is key and I know if I find anything a chore i wont maintain it.

Next I'd say set yourself a goal or a challenge we love to rise to a challenge and it will keep you motivated and also take a friend along with you if you can or look forward to making new friends by joining a class or a group! Pain is much better when you know everyones going through it with you!

About RT Kit

What were your initial thoughts on the kit when it arrived?

Firstly, the packaging is amazing I will definitely be keeping it to put my bikinis or something in for travel!! (Whenever we can do that again) the style is fresh and on trend, I can tell a lot of thought has gone into the comfort of the person wearing it.

How does it feel and look once you put your kit on?

Really happy with how the the grey leggings and the purple hooded fleece fits me. I'm coming back from injury so feel a little out of shape but the leggings provide just the right amount of support in just the right places and made me want to train. Look good, feel good, really is a real thing! I have a muscular physique and its nice to find kit that just hugs your shape as it makes me feel confident. I also really like the above the ankle socks, they are amazing! They do not slip of your feet which is a bonus and there is a good amount of cushioning but not too much that trainers are still comfy.

What type of training would you wear this kit for?

I would wear this kit for most of my training sessions, I really envisage hill running in the purple fleece, the leggings I would use for a long run on cooler days, they are super functional along side my gym and conditioning sessions. The socks I could wear for any session, they are great.
