What inspired you to start running?
I began running to raise money for Cancer Research UK and the Central England Rehabilitation unit in 2017. It was a bit of a laugh as most of my friends thought the idea of me running was hilarious so they all parted ways with their cash! Over the duration of the year, I managed to raise £5,000 to split between the two charities. It’s safe to say I caught the bug, and from there signed up for my first marathon in 2018. Since then, I began taking running a bit more ’seriously’ and now really enjoy the challenge of smashing my own PBs.
What is your favourite racing distance?
I’m going to regret saying this but… marathon!
What is your favourite post-run meal?
Dominos large bbq base with chicken and bacon, sorted.
What is your favourite session on your training plan?
This is such a hard one! I enjoy so many aspects of my training, however I’d say that my longer ‘pick up’ run is probably my favourite. This is when I head out for a high milage run, but don’t focus on pace until the last 2/3 miles and then really push myself.
Which running-inspired quote is your mantra?
It’s not about the legs, it’s about the heart and the mind.
If you had all the time in the world, what would be the one thing you’d work really hard on for your training?
… recovery! Having the time to put my body through some easy yoga and stretching flows, foam rolling until my hearts content, and getting all the sleep I really need is something I would love to be able to focus on.
What bit of kit would you recommend to other runners (from the RunThroughKit page)?
I’m in LOVE with the ‘On The Run - Women’s Long Sleeve’. Honestly if I could run, eat, sleep and live in this top I would! It’s so soft and cosy and I can’t wait to get my hands on the new pink shade too...
Which bit of kit do you own that you now take everywhere?
This is such a tricky one, but I’d have to say I never leave to go anywhere without my sports SPF. It’s so important that I make sure my skin is protected when I’m spending hours outside, even when it’s not sunny (Britain, hey!)
